The McKechnie Aerospace Electromechanical Group

Companies within the McKechnie Aerospace Electromechanical Group provide a wide range of flight control systems and actuators, landing gear actuators and assemblies, blowers, motors, integrated electromechanical assemblies and PMA parts. These three highly experienced and respected heritage - Electromech, Encore, and Welco – make the McKechnnie Electromechanical Group uniquely successful at supporting today’s OEMs with innovative design support in electromechanical areas ranging from hydraulic pumps and power packs to complete synchronized flight control actuation systems. Each of these companies is noted for its forward thinking design approaches and stands alone as a uniquely effective supply chain partner from conception through the life cycle of the program. Through a process the company calls Solutioneering®, the Electromechanical Group supports customers worldwide with innovative solutions that provide maximum performance at/and lowest possible cost of ownership.

Solutioneering®: it’s the shortest route to the future.
Solutioneering® is the delivery vehicle of McKechnie Aerospace benefits, i.e. the fulfillment of opportunities through pioneering solutions in products and services to deliver the lowest possible cost of ownership. Through the McKechnie Aerospace Electromechanical Group, aircraft OEMs and supporting manufacturers have access to this unique process and can solve problems based on real world experience. Unlike traditional engineering/manufacturing partners, the McKechnie Aerospace Electromechanical Group is involved with "full cycle" support and provides a direct link to collaboration and extensive product support through the combined resources of the members of the McKechnie aerospace group. The following is a brief description of the heritage companies within the McKechnie Electromechanical Group.

Profile: Electromech Technologies
Electromech Technologies is a leader in the application of Motors, Blowers and Actuators for the Aerospace and Defense industries. The company maintains the in-house engineering talent, experience and resources to design, develop, test, manufacture and support the most advanced, reliable electromechanical components available today. Since 1968, when Electromech first designed and developed a DC motor for horizontal stabilizers, it has maintained a position of leadership in the industry. This has been accomplished through the continued development of innovative designs and the establishment of a worldwide reputation for product support to the customer. Electromech continuously builds on its technological and production experience. Capable of designing a new aviation component in two weeks while others require eight, Electromech Technologies can prototype that part in eight weeks rather than eight months. The company then employs phased production startup to rapidly convert from pilot production to focused steady state manufacturing. Still later in the product's lifetime, Electromech Technologies’ FAA-approved repair station provides continuing Product Support, including complete overhaul capability.

Markets served: commercial, regional, corporate, rotary wing, military air and land-based vehicles.
Key Products: flight control actuators and assemblies, landing gear actuators, flight control systems, motors, blowers, PMA parts.

Profile: Encore
Encore provides on-going aftermarket support for the products produced by Electromech and other manufacturers. The company maintains a FAA repair station (PX2R099L) and is JAR 145 accepted. The company provides advanced supply chain support and repair services to commercial, regional, corporate, military services and MROs. Products supported include motors, actuators, fans, blowers, valves and a variety of electronic controls.

Market served: commercial, regional, corporate, fixed and rotary wing, military air and land-based vehicles.
Key Products: flight control actuators and assemblies, landing gear actuators, flight control systems, fans, motors, blowers.

Profile: Welco Technologies
Welco supplies custom-engineered AC motors for critical use applications. The company has been a long time leader in the design and manufacture of products utilized in the scientific and medical field, including medical X-ray tube anode stators for medium and high-power X-ray tubes and CAT scanners. As part of the McKechnie Aerospace Group, Welco is bringing its history of innovative design and exacting manufacturing to supply, in conjunction with other members of the electromechanical group, OEMs and supporting manufacturers with new generation AC motors. The company is noted for value-added engineering through custom mounting configurations, extending tube life through highly engineered motor design, and increasing reliability utilizing engineered materials, and state-of-the-art manufacture.

Markets served: Scientific, Medical, Aerospace
Key products: Advanced AC motors.
